2 | Weird Weather

The Weather Machine: Replikat tampers with a weather machine, causing erratic weather in the ‘real world’. It’s pouring rain in the desert and the ice is melting in the arctic. Quick! The Novakids must restore it.

Lessons 5 Oct discussion

  • Type: Seek and destroy

  • Quest giver: Elara

  • Quest location: Real World

  • Objective: Fix the erratic weather in the ‘real world’ >> Sub-objectives can be break the various weather machines left in location by Replikat.

  • Conflict: Weather (Heavy rains, winds, floods, Sandstorms, temperature, snow, etc) Other type of local conflict (The machine is at the top of a building, at the bottom of the sea etc)

  • Climax: All the weather machines are disabled. Nice job, the world’s weather is fixed now. Back to Skymoor (or other name)

NOTE: remind who Replikat is, in case students did NOT do any Quests before.

Replikat

Hierarchy Position: Ultimate Villain

What he is: A rogue inventor who has turned his back on ethical science and sustainable practices. He aims to transform Elara into a kingdom of machines and clones, generating pollution and waste in the process.

How he looks: Replikat wears a suit made of various non-recyclable materials like plastic and metal scraps. His "crown" could be a rotating gear encrusted with faux jewels made from broken glass and electronic waste. His mechanical suit could emit puffs of dark smoke at intervals, and his boots could leave a trail of oil as he walks.

Reason: Driven by a twisted sense of industrial progress, Replikat believes that turning Elara into a mechanical wasteland is the ultimate form of advancement. He disregards the natural balance and ethical considerations in his blind pursuit of this goal.

Control Over: He has the ability to corrupt natural elements in Elara, turning them into polluted, mechanical versions of themselves. This could range from transforming water sources into toxic sludge to converting animals into mechanical, waste-producing versions. He also attempts to control lesser bosses like the Terraformer and the Clockwork Parasite, repurposing them to serve his destructive agenda.

Possible start:

They all start in headquarters when Replikat sends a message - 'I'm going to take over the world. I'll make the weather all bad. etc etc.' Elara then gives them the task to stop him.

a) It introduces him with story rather than just this is Replikat

b) it gives a stronger sense of urgency.

Let's put the disasters in some sort of order. (they are weird and wouldn't normally occur in these places?)

 Floods in Fiji

Blizzards in Bahrain

Hurricanes in Hungary

Sandstorms in Spain

(note Spain has a desert so this may not be so unusual? Critical thinking?)

I'm going to take over the world. Ha ha ha

Replikat appears on screen

Look at my amazing 'bad weather machines'

But first I will make 'bad weather' so it's difficult for you to stop me.
